Western Governors University joins Velocity

We’re delighted to welcome Western Governors University (WGU) as the latest organization to join the Velocity Network Foundation!

Western Governors University is a private, nonprofit, online university founded in 1997 by 19 U.S. governors to create the world’s most student-centric institution of higher education.

With nearly 145,000 students and over 300,000 alumni, WGU is characterized by its flexible learning architecture and multi-dimensional delivery.

Speaking about the news, WGU’s Director of Strategic Skills Partnerships in Workforce Intelligence and Credential Integrity, Ricardo Grant, said:

“As WGU works toward increasing the value of a degree through skills-denominated credentials, verification is a crucial milestone to success.

Velocity Network’s important contributions to owned and shareable credentials are key to learner and earner achievement within and beyond the higher education sector.

WGU looks forward to collaboration opportunities and a future where learning and employment records are transparent, transferable, and translatable.”

We’re excited to work with everyone at WGU to reinvent how career records are shared, creating new opportunities for thousands of people.
